What is STAHLS' CAD-CUT® Premium Plus?

CAD-CUT® Premium Plus is a PU-based flex vinyl that is cut with a cutting plotter and transferred to the textile using a heat press. The vinyl has a material thickness of only 90 microns, contributing to the soft and flexible feel of the finished garment.

The high elasticity allows the print to follow the movement and stretch of the textile. This makes Premium Plus suitable for both standard garment textiles and more flexible materials such as Lycra® and spandex blends. The thin construction is also an advantage for larger designs, as the motif does not feel unnecessarily heavy or compact.

Two alternative application settings

STAHLS' CAD-CUT® Premium Plus can be applied using one of the following alternative settings:

• 130 °C for 10 seconds
• 150 °C for 5 seconds

These are two alternative application options. The vinyl should therefore not be pressed twice. Choose the temperature and pressing time that best suit the textile properties and your production process.

For both settings, a medium pressure is recommended, corresponding to level 4–6 on a Hotronix^® heat press. On most compatible textiles, the carrier film is removed warm using Hot Peel immediately after pressing.

When applying to 100% nylon, however, the carrier film must be removed cold. Allow the design and textile to cool before removing the carrier when printing on nylon.

For layered designs, each element should be positioned precisely, and the total heat exposure of the textile should be kept as low as possible. Use short pre-pressing for the first layers and finish with the recommended full pressing time on the final layer. Always test the combination before starting larger production.

Efficient and user-friendly workflow

Working with STAHLS' CAD-CUT® Premium Plus is simple and requires only a few steps:

• Create the design in your design software.
• Mirror the design before cutting.
• Cut the design in the vinyl using a cutting plotter.
• Remove the excess vinyl with a suitable weeding tool.
• Place the design on the textile with the carrier side facing up.
• Press once at either 130 °C for 10 seconds or 150 °C for 5 seconds.
• Remove the carrier film warm on standard compatible textiles.
• Allow the design to cool before removing the carrier film when applying to nylon.

For weeding, STAHLS' Weeder® is recommended. During heat pressing, a Grip cover sheet or a non-stick coated cover sheet can be used to protect the design, textile and heat press.

Washing and care

Textiles decorated with CAD-CUT® Premium Plus can be washed at up to 60 °C. Always follow the garment manufacturer’s washing instructions if the textile requires a lower temperature.

To protect the design, it is recommended to turn the garment inside out before washing and ironing. Avoid ironing directly on the surface of the vinyl. Instead, iron the garment inside out or protect the design with a suitable cover sheet.
