What do I need to start my own production of signs and textile prints?

To help you get started with your own production of signs and textile prints, we have put together a number of starter kits in different price ranges that contain everything you need to get started. The equipment you need depends first and foremost on what you want to produce.

At the bottom of the page you will therefore find a brief description of the two most frequent productions with our machines.

Production of own signs

Equipment:

  • Cutting plotter
  • Standard foil or Special foil
  • Computer with cutting software

Work process when installing signboard on flat surfaces:

Start making your design with cutting software on a computer. At Sign Production we recommend the Easy Cut, Sure Cuts A Lot, WinPCSign and Signpal programs. If you want to import your own design (eg logo), we recommend that you contact our customer service for free advice. Read more about the different programs here: Cutting Software.

The computer connects to your cutting plotter which is then used to plot (cut) your desired design into the material of your choice. For sign production, both standard and special foil can be used, depending on the effect the sign should have and where the sign should be used. Read more about the different types of materials here: Materials.

After the plotter has finished cutting, the excess material is removed. Then you transfer your design to the transfer foil, ensuring that the result will be exactly as you intended before transferring it to the final product. Be sure to scrape away air bubbles thoroughly for the best result.

Tip: When applied to large surfaces, water can be advantageously used with a drop of detergent as it is easier to get the pressure placed correctly.

Production of textile printing

Equipment:

Work process using textile foil:

Start making your design with cutting software on a computer. At Sign Production we recommend the Easy Cut, Sure Cuts A Lot, WinPCSign and Signpal programs. If you want to import your own design (eg logo), we recommend that you contact our customer service for free advice. Read more about the different programs here: Cutting Software.

The computer connects to your cutting plotter which is then used to plot (cut) your desired design into the material of your choice. Textile foil is used for the production of textile printing. Textile foil is available in a huge selection depending on what effect your print should have. You can find our wide selection of textile foil here: Textile Foil.

After your design is cut out, the excess material is removed. Then transfer the design to the transfer foil so that it is easier to print on the desired piece of fabric. Turn the design upside down and place it on top of the fabric in a heat press. The heat press is used to heat the glue so that your pressure is attached to the fabric.

NOTE: We recommend keeping the desired design for hobby / semi-professional use relatively simple. Cutting plotters are not suitable for very complicated subjects (eg pictures or very thin letters). Instead, the film will be printed directly on the foil and a special printer is typically used for this process, which is not currently being used. included in our range. In this case, we recommend contacting a professional printing company rather than starting your own production.
