Roland AP-640 Resin/Latex Printer for Signs and Graphics

The Roland AP-640 Resin/Latex Printer is designed for businesses producing signs, advertising graphics, banners and decorative prints on roll media. Built on Roland’s TrueVIS platform, it combines water based resin ink, detailed colour reproduction and fast drying to support efficient graphic production.

This is a large format graphics printer, not a resin 3D printer. It produces printed images on compatible media rather than building three dimensional objects.

Why Choose the Roland AP-640?

The AP-640 gives sign makers and print shops the flexibility to produce different types of graphics with one printing system. Suitable applications include indoor displays, window graphics, wallcoverings, banners and vehicle graphics on compatible materials.

Its resin ink and controlled drying process help prints move promptly into finishing. The finished product’s durability depends on the chosen media, print settings, any protective laminate and the conditions in which it will be used.

Detailed Printing with CMYK and Optimiser

With a maximum resolution of 1200 dpi, the AP-640 reproduces fine lettering, photographs, logos and colour gradients. Its piezo inkjet technology controls the placement of ink droplets for detailed output across suitable print modes.

The printer uses cyan, magenta, yellow and black ink plus an optimiser. The optimiser helps control how the ink forms dots on the media, supporting clear detail and consistent colour reproduction.

Suitable media profiles and correct calibration remain important when changing materials or repeating previous orders.

Fast Drying for Efficient Finishing

The integrated heating and drying system prepares prints for further processing without the extended solvent outgassing stage associated with many solvent printing applications. Roland’s air curtain dryer uses concentrated airflow to support drying and prompt lamination.

Adjustable print heater and dryer settings allow the process to be matched to the selected media. Follow the approved profile and material instructions, and confirm that the print is properly dried before finishing.

Practical Operation and Power Management

The 7 inch touchscreen provides access to printer controls and media settings. Automatic media calibration and a take up unit help support consistent feeding and the handling of longer print runs.

An automatic sleep function reduces power consumption when the equipment is idle. Roland specifies approximately 4000 W during operation and 65 W in sleep mode, so electrical requirements should be considered when planning installation.

Flexible Media Handling

The AP-640 accepts media widths from 259 to 1625 mm, with a maximum printable width of 1615 mm. It supports compatible materials up to 1.0 mm thick, including the liner.

Rolls can have an outside diameter of up to 250 mm and weigh up to 45 kg. This capacity supports both individual orders and longer production runs without restricting the printer to one type of graphic.

Applications can include suitable vinyl, banner materials, wallcoverings, paper and selected display media. Explore our digital print media and confirm compatibility with the AP-640 before choosing a material.

Printing and Separate Contour Cutting

The AP-640 is a dedicated printer without integrated contour cutting. To produce shaped stickers, labels and vinyl graphics, combine it with a compatible cutting plotter that can read the required registration marks.

This arrangement separates printing from cutting, allowing each stage to be planned around the workload. The printer’s sheet separation knife should not be confused with a contour cutting system.

Applications for Sign and Graphics Businesses

The Roland AP-640 can support production of:

  • Signs and advertising graphics on suitable printable media
  • Banners and exhibition displays
  • Posters and point of sale materials
  • Window graphics and wall decoration
  • Stickers and labels with separate cutting equipment
  • Vehicle graphics and wraps using compatible film and laminate combinations

For outdoor graphics and demanding applications, choose the complete material system according to the expected exposure, handling and cleaning. Test new combinations before starting a larger order.

Software and Production Control

The AP-640 is supplied with Roland VersaWorks output software and Roland DG Connect. VersaWorks supports artwork processing, colour management and print settings, while Roland DG Connect provides compatible monitoring and printer management functions.

Saving suitable profiles and documenting material settings makes repeat production easier. Consistent preparation is particularly useful for wallcoverings and graphics divided across several panels.

Installation, Support and Maintenance

We recommend that a qualified technician carries out installation and initial setup. This should include media loading, printer configuration and guidance on cleaning and routine maintenance.

Contact us about Roland printer service and the installation and support arrangements available for your location. We can also help you assess materials, finishing equipment and the practical requirements of your production space.

Two Year Warranty and Regular Servicing

The printer is supplied with a two year warranty. To maintain this cover, professional servicing is required every six months, subject to the applicable warranty terms.

Contact us to discuss a service agreement suited to the equipment and its use. Routine cleaning and operator maintenance should also be carried out according to Roland’s instructions between service visits.
