PBT+ (polybutylene terephthalate) offers many of the same properties as nylon, but absorbs less moisture (humidity), allowing PBT+ to maintain its shape in wet environments.
PBT+ is often used as a substitute for Nylon 6.6 or 6.12 and has better wear resistance than polypropylene or polystyrene. PBT has good mechanical properties in terms of stretching, twisting, and bending (good "bend recovery"). PBT is also resistant to solvents,
PBT+ has high UV resistance.
Note that PBT contains fibers that can wear your nozzle. Therefore, we recommend using a ruby, steel, hardened steel, or titanium nozzle.
We recommend a print temperature for this type of 235°C hotend / 65°C bed, preferably using adhesives such as PrintaFix or 3DSupreme.
PBT+ has a heat resistance of up to 120°C and can be beneficially used for 3D printed items that are cast in materials such as PUR or other applications that require heat.
PBT is relatively easy to print with, considering the benefits it offers.
We recommend 3DE Premium PLA because:
It is easy to print with, even at low temperatures.
